Current Activities
Zhihai Jiang and Dasheng Lu are currently studying and working with the California Public Health Department. Their training will be from December 1, 2010 to May 30, 2011. Dasheng is working with Frank Barley, and Jianwen She in the Environmental Health Laboratory and Zhihai is working with the Environmental Health Investigations Branch. They are looking for appropriate courses in University of California at Berkeley for the spring semester. Dasheng and Zhihai are also actively participating meetings/conferences, workshops and seminars either on the Public Health Department Richmond campus where they have their work stations, or on other locations inside/outside of California. The first workshop they attended was in Oakland on December 17, 2010 called SAG (Stakeholder Advisory Group) meeting which was held by our Fish Project staffs.
Like the previous trainees, Zhihai and Dasheng will study the CDC epidemiology cases with Dr. Daniel Smith. There are around 10 epidemiology cases available for them. Zhihai and Dasheng also have opportunity to work with Dr. Smith to do data analysis on the project they brought from China.
Dr. Rick Kreutzer and Lixia Zhang meet with our trainees weekly to discuss the training activities, check on their progresses, help with their summary activity reports and technical paper writing. Dr. Kreutzer also gives the trainees lectures on the US government, the California State government, the legislative processes, and the budget process.
