Xue Han & Jing Wang Activities
Our current trainees Xue Han and Jing Wang started their training on December of 2009 and will continue until the end of February of 2010. Since half of their training time falls into the holiday season, they could not attend the UC Berkeley classes. Our focus for them is to participant in meetings and seminars either on our Richmond campus (the California Department of Public Health), or on other San Francisco Bay Area locations, as well as Sacramento.
On Wednesday Jan 20th, 2010, Dr. Daniel Smith led the first case study 'Influenza A (H5N1) in Humans: Surveillance System Enhancement'. Dr. Smith has taught our previous trainees epidemiology cases, data analysis and the related statistical software applications.

On Sundays, both Xue and Jing go to the Berkeley First Presbyterian Church to attend the English/Culture class. They are encouraged to attend the Berkeley or Albany Adult School to study English. We also provide private English lessons for them if they need.
During the 3 months training, Xue Han and Jing Wang visited the Food & Drug Department in Sacramento; US EPA Region 9 in San Francisco; and the Nutrition and Cancer Biology Laboratory, Tuffs University, Boston. A Ph.D researcher gave our trainees introductions of their Lab, researches etc.
