Xiaoheng Wang & Wangxi Hai Activities
Xiaoheng Wang and Wangxi Hai are conducting their trainings with the California Public Health Department from March 15, 2010 to September 15, 2010. They took the University of California Berkeley summer session epidemiology classes; in the mean time they were actively participating meetings/conferences, workshops and seminars either on the Public Health Department Richmond campus where they have their work stations, or on other locations inside/outside of California. On May from 12-15, 2010, Xiaoheng and Wangxi attended the annual WREN (Western Region Epidemiology Network) conference in Ashland, Oregon and on June 6-10 they attended the CSTE (the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists Annual Conference) in Portland, Oregon.
Like the previous trainees, Xiaoheng and Wangxi study the CDC epidemiology cases with Dr. Daniel Smith. During theire 6 months training they have studied influenza A (H5N1) in Humans: Surveillance System Enhancement'; 'Vinyl Chloride and Cancer'; they also worked with Dr. Smith to do data analysis on the project they brought from China.
Dr. Rick Kreutzer and Lixia Zhang meet with our trainees weekly to discuss the training activities, check on their progresses, help with their summary activity reports and technical paper writing. Dr. Kreutzer also gives the trainees lectures on the US government, the California State government, the legislative processes, and the budget process.
